Where it began
When we first started Tallow Bar, it wasn’t because we wanted to build a skincare brand.
It came from frustration.
I was dealing with severe facial and scalp eczema flares, acne and reactive skin and cycling through products that promised relief, yet somehow left my skin more reactive, more dependent, and more confused over time.
I (and my dermatologist at the time) were treating my sensitive skin like a problem to fight instead of something to support.
I was even prescribed a cream that made my skin BURN. That was the tipping point for me.
Rediscovering tradition
When I first learned about tallow, there was an immediate pull inside of me to give it a go. After trying everything else, it was a last resort to help me feel normal again.
Long before modern formulations, skincare was rooted in nourishment.
Traditional remedies focused on strengthening the skin barrier using whole, natural ingredients rather than overpowering it with synthetic complexity.
Tallow became our turning point and we never looked back.
Our first attempts at making a tallow balm were far from perfect, but it's what really helped my skin barrier find some relief and start to find its balance again.
