FAQs

What is tallow and why is it used in skincare?

Tallow is rendered animal fat, traditionally sourced from responsibly raised cows. In skincare, it is used for its biocompatibility with the skin. Tallow contains essential fatty acids and antioxidants, making it a nourishing and moisturising ingredient.

Is tallow suitable for all skin types?

Yes, tallow is known for its biocompatibility, making it suitable for various skin types, including dry, sensitive, and oily skin. It helps balance the skin's natural oils and provides deep moisturisation.

Will tallow skincare clog my pores?

Tallow is unlikely to clog pores. Its composition is compatible with the skin's natural oils, making it a suitable choice for those prone to breakouts and oily skin.

Can I use tallow skincare if I have sensitive skin?

Absolutely. Tallow's gentle and soothing properties make it suitable for sensitive skin. Many of our customers with sensitive skin find relief and improved skin health with tallow-based skincare.

Can tallow help with specific skin concerns like eczema or acne?

Tallow's nourishing and moisturising properties can benefit various skin concerns. Many of our customers have reported positive results with issues like eczema, psoriasis and acne, but individual experiences may vary. See our reviews and our social media for many testimonials and before and afters!

How should I incorporate tallow skincare into my routine?

We highly recommend applying tallow daily to damp skin, so after a shower is best, this will ensure the tallow can lock in hydration present. Depending on the
product, it can be used as a moisturiser, cleanser, or as directed on the
packaging.

Is tallow balm safe for babies and children?

Absolutely! Tallow is 100% safe, natural and effective for babies and children. It is
especially good for nappy rash and any other skin concerns that may pop up like
eczema and irritations.

What does tallow smell like?

Tallow on its own definitely has a scent, after all it is an animal product. It is not strong like beef fat you would use for cooking. However, the tallow used in our skincare products is
mixed in with other oils, butters and herbs, so they don't have a lingering tallow scent.

Does using tallow in skincare products harm animals?

No. Tallow is generally a by-product of the meat industry that is normally discarded, and we prioritise cruelty-free and sustainable methods, ensuring no harm to animals in the process. By using tallow we are contributing to less waste and paying respect to the animal with a nose-to-tail approach.

Are your products and packaging environmentally friendly?

Yes, we are committed to environmental sustainability. Our packaging is recycled and eco-friendly, and we strive to minimise our environmental impact throughout the entire production process.

Are your ingredients all organic?

We definitely prioritise sourcing organic wherever possible. If we cannot find organic then we always ensure to source sustainably and from regenerative
sources to ensure the highest quality.
